The Kazier Language….

…was created over a period of a year, for concepts that Kim and the Kazier were talking about. My degrees in anthro included some study of linguistics but I am not a scholar of the Tolkien caliber! Each book that includes Kazier words also has a full lexicon. Why did I do it? To make it more clear that Kim is living with aliens, with different concepts and ideas. In order to make the story character-driven, not gee-whiz-driven, I have most aliens semi-understandable to my 21st Century Human audience, everyone breathes O2, etc.

The ConFleet Anthem: I Vow to Thee My Country

uses the Holst music that the 20th-21st century patriotic hymn uses, but with more appropriate lyrics. [Many senior Anglican clergy have deplored the warped view of Christianity contained in the lyrics of today.]

I Vow to Thee my Country, my faithful heart and true,
All devotion to you, today and ever more.
For your worlds and all your people, Of every kind and sort.
We explore, learn, inspire, with  wonders grand and new.
We sail on seas of stars, We into danger go
To keep our people safe, all enemies beware.

Oh, people of my country, look to your stars above,
As we stand guard for you, live your lives in peace,
Fair and true in all our dealings, all virtues we uphold.
The quilt growing stronger with each added strand.

These are the books:

Heroes:  Kim Arai-Kemal desperately wants to end the threat of a massive invasion of the Pan-Galactic Planetary Confederation by the Kazier Empire. What can one junior science officer, not a trained diplomat or warrior, do? Her unexpected actions lead to danger for her and unforeseen consequences for the Kazier and the Confederation, while Kim discovers who the real heroes are.

Enemies/Families: Who are your enemies?  The alien species who is shooting at you? The alien species whose political machinations are going to get you killed?  The powerful forces of your own country, who want to punish you for one small mistake?  Your family, who thinks you’re a mass murderer?  Take your pick!  But sometimes the enemies that you can see take a smaller toll than the ones you can’t.   And sometimes the enemies you can see – aren’t enemies at all.

Husbands:  Manzelam’s elite want to maintain their privileged status and are willing to slaughter civilians in a reign of terror to keep their control of the downtrodden masses.  Commander Kim Arai-Kemal’s multi-species terraforming project is the only power who can stop them before it’s too late.  Kim’s family fractures as the moral lines are drawn in the sky, pitting husband against wife and sister against sister.  Will ConFleet’s heroine keep fighting if it will cost her her husband, her children, and even her beloved ConFleet career?

Oceans: Kim Arai-Kemal (ConFleet Commander, Sciences) thinks that she’s been offered a simple science and cultural exchange, touring the Water Planets Alliance worlds and ships.  If only that were reality!  Secret secession plans are underway in ConFleet and if these powerful species leave the far-flung nation at a time when the Kazier Empire’s intentions are ambiguous at best and other enemies are poised to pounce - it is the most serious threat to the existence of the PGPC since its founding! Kim’s very life is on the line from murderous fellow ConFleeters – and then her ship blows up.  And the Kazier arrive.  Are they there to save the day – or destroy the Confederation?  Can Kim figure it out before it’s too late, for herself and the people and nation she loves?

Cats:  Do the Talfi have a clandestine ally - a PGPC member world?  Or is it a ruse of the Kazier Empire?  Finding the answer sends ConFleet Senior Commander and former envoy to the Kazier Kim Arai-Kemal on a desperate quest to find the answer.  From the Emperor’s Throne Room to the inner sanctum of Kazier External Intelligence, from the secret dealings of the Fareha Planetary Defense Force to the hidden worlds of the enigmatic Sirians, culminating in the seat of PGPC government on Mars, Kim and her team of ConFleet Military Intelligence, Fleet Security and some undercover forensic boffins must discover the truth hidden in a labyrinth of lies. Eventually, Tama’s secret bases have been discovered and her long campaign against the Sirians has been uncovered.  But who is the traitor?  And will President Moranian move against the true traitors before the Talfi are ready to invade?

Harbinger:  The murderous Talfi armada is coming.  The Kazier Empire and the Pan-Galactic Planetary Confederation, allied against this threat, have spent a decade improving their border defenses, developing intel sources and readying their people for all-out war. ConFleet Captain Kim Arai-Kemal must prepare herself, her ship and her family for Armageddon.  The Confederation and the Empire can only wait, conserve resources for defense use and pray for a miracle.  Will it be enough – or will both Empire and Confederation be swept away and their people slaughtered? What kind of world will Kim and her family and friends create, if they survive? Is the battle a harbinger of a people re-created for greatness, or the death-knell of the PGPC’s soul?

Flight (2024) - Megume, a survivor of the Talfi battle, goes to Draco to get an answer to the question the whole Confederation is asking: “How could you let us down, when we so desperately fought for survival? How could one of the PGPC’s founding members betray us"?”

Whisper (2024) - an old enemy is stirring out past the Boltan Homeworld. Ships both merchant and ConFleet exploratory CSS’s have been going missing for two decades but no one put the pieces together until Megume Arai-Kemal, her sister Ada and their cousins find the answer hidden in a morass of lies.
