Welcome to the Water Planets Alliance!

On this page, we will explore the planets anD species of the WPA. Let us help you keep all the people, places and facts chronicled in the book oceans (#5 in the Kim story arc)

Art being added all the time….. Terenke are beaver-ish, Emketi are otter-ish and Rihansu are orca-ish. Most people know these Terran mammals so this art is last-priority. Rihansu have pet Phemo, a species that looks like a sea snake similar to the species that helped the Ar’kmank’il build their civilization.

Author says: This page is my early sketches as the book was in progress. Other pages showcase Rick’s art, including the Bohai painting showing all the WPA species in the PGPC universe.

This is a Vash scientist visiting the Homeworld of the Kra. Kra resemble squid, generally. They didn’t care what Confederation called them so a Human came up with Kra (for kraken). Many Water Planets Alliance species let other species name them. The Vash are mostly land-dwellers who hunted for food, and built hunting-cabins in the shallow seas of their Homeworld. They also used water to escape from predators in their very early evolution.

LEVANT are similar to Kra - convergent evolution - superficially, but with three long and four short arms.

Commander Wing on the bridge of CWS Virtue. 4 legs to sit without fatigue, two to manipulate controls. Wing appears in Oceans, Cats and Harbinger.

Baby Rihansu stuffed animal. Markings to obscure profile from predators (prior to Rihansu control of the ecosystem). Paddles and flippers to control movement in childhood.

Levant (black, more octopus-ish) and green Kra. A bas-relief painted brick.

Levant (black), Kra (green) and other sea denizens of Water Planets Alliance.

On the left, the Barbas. Blue body and wings can detach and lift to become an aerial component. The legs (under the wings, at the center) can walk on suction feet. To swim, the Barbas tucks the feet under its body and flaps the big wings like a Terran ray. The Biffong look like a grenade with two three-fingered hands. Both species built complex underwater civilizations. The Biffong need to use avatars on ConFleet duty while the small Barbas can walk, swim and fly in air and usually don’t; they need to return to water regularly to stay optimally healthy.

The Inkk, a colony sentient

The Ar’kmank’il is the size of a moderate-sized whale, the largest of the WPA species. They have g-engineered manipulative tongues, but historically used the services of a commensal species resembling a sea-snake to manipulate and build their impressive civilization. The Norlinks below has a large beak to peck, dig, manipulate. They can hump along like a walrus on land but generally use avatars. The Ar’kmank’il always does; their huge bodies rely on water buoyancy to survive.
